Agnieszka Holland for Gazeta.pl: I don’t want to live in a country where people can die because of a movie.

Agnieszka Holland says in an interview with Gazeta.pl that she did not prepare “The Green Border” for the elections, but for film festivals, according to their calendar. – It was very important to me that there was not only one voice in the public space in Poland, not the voice of the authorities – the director emphasizes.

Agnieszka Holland for Gazeta.pl: “The Green Border” has a “deeply humanitarian message”

At the same time, the director emphasizes that she wanted the Polish audience to be able to see “The Green Border” quickly after its world premiere. Her latest film, which won the Special Jury Prize last Saturday in Venice, will be shown in Polish cinemas from September 22. Holland says:

Holding a referendum on some completely imaginary topics just to stir up fear of the unknown once again, just to make the voices of those who have no voice and whom politicians do not talk about because it is not profitable – I am now talking about opposition politicians.

– It has always been the creators’ task to show human fate and choices, and that is what this film is about – he adds, emphasizing that it has a “deeply humanitarian message”, and politicians and other haters criticize “The Green Border” even though they could not see the production . Let us recall that the director’s representatives sent a letter to the “Children of the Holocaust” Association. These are the words addressed to Agnieszka Holland published on September 4, 2023 on the X website (formerly Twitter), in which he compared the artist “with propagandists of the Third Reich who showed Poles as bandits and murderers.” Meanwhile, some . – I don’t want to live in a country where people can die because of a film – says the director.
