From July 2022, the Tax Office may look into the private bank accounts of Polish women and men without obtaining various grounds for doing so. Transactions on popular portals such as Vinted, OLX and even Allegro are checked. If you sell things there at the so-called airing out your closet, you’d better check if you’re not exceeding the limits. Otherwise, there may be large financial consequences.

Checks not only on Vinted and OLX. There will be no consequences in these cases
Auction portals such as Vinted and must keep reports on sellers who use their websites and applications. However, this only applies to people who have exceeded the established limits related to the occasional sale of goods. If we do not want to bear the consequences of the Tax Office, we can make fewer than 30 transactions a year or the total income from such activities should not exceed EUR 2,000. JIf we sell clothes or books from time to time that we no longer use, this should not be considered a commercial activity. – It is similar when we do the so-called airing out the wardrobe and getting rid of unnecessary clothes, e.g. using the Vinted platform. Such arrangements should also not cause us tax problems, explains Piotr Juszczyk in an interview with the portal.
What if we don’t stay within the established limits? Then you will have to pay dearly
However, what does the situation look like when we exceed the limits when occasionally selling products from our wardrobe? Then we will have to pay tax immediately. This also happens to us when we sell an item too quickly. Once we buy a dress, we cannot sell it faster than 6 months from the date of purchase. Otherwise we will be forced to pay tax.
