Jan Piechociñski gained great recognition thanks to his role in the film “Oh, Karol” directed by Roman Za³uski. Although he quickly became a women’s idol, and his fans even proposed quick weddings, he waited a long time for further proposals. His financial situation was saved only by the “Klan”.

Before Jan Piechociński joined the Łódź Film School, he studied physics, Polish philology and law. He finally decided to pursue an acting career. In 1977 he received his diploma, the year before he made his debut on the stage. He appeared on screen for the first time in 1974 in the production of “The Nest”, a year later in “The Story of Sin”. For over 10 years, he patiently took care of his position in the industry. Finally, Roman Załuski cast him in the film that gave Piechociński the greatest popularity.

In 1985, Jan Piechociński received the main role in Roman Załuski’s film “Oh, Karol”. The titular Karol is an architect and although he has an attractive wife, Maria, he cannot miss any opportunity to start affairs with other women. Eventually, the number of lovers becomes difficult to control, and Karol Górski loses control of the situation. Further complications and mistresses appear, from which the hero tries to protect himself, although unsuccessfully. – I was full of praise for director Roman Załuski, who created an excellent cast – Jan Piechociński in an interview with “Tele Tygodnik”. He was accompanied on screen by a galaxy of the most sought-after actresses: Marta Klubowicz, Danuta Kowalska, Jolanta Nowak, Ewa Sałacka, and even the singer Urszula appeared in the production.

– When creating the character of Karol Górski, we knew from the very beginning that he would not be a typical Don Juan. It was supposed to be someone who couldn’t say no to a woman, he added. The film made the actor, just like the character he played, unable to keep away from his admirers, who even proposed a quick wedding for him. However, he was newly married, so there were no romances.

His role in “Oh, Karol” made him recognizable, but it did not translate into professional success. For several years he did not receive any offer. Financial difficulties finally made the actor decide to emigrate. He had previously tried unsuccessfully to receive unemployment benefits. – The clerks burst out laughing when they saw me – . He went to Sweden for six months, where he took a job as a painter. – I didn’t get any role for four years. People asked for autographs and I had no money. However, thanks to this comedy, I played with Kieślowski – in the “Show” magazine. Roman Załuski cast him in his next production, “Marriage Comedy”. He played supporting characters for years. Eventually, he joined the cast of “” and, as he himself recalled, thanks to this he managed to improve his financial situation. If not, he would have nothing to live for. To this day, he plays the role of Feliks Nowak and thanks to him he can still save his budget. Today he receives only PLN 1,500 in pension.
