A survivor’s pension is a benefit that is due to family members of the deceased person, provided that at the time of death they were entitled to an old-age pension, including a bridging pension and a disability pension, or met the conditions for receiving them. Father’s survivor’s pension. Who will receive the benefit?

They are entitled to a survivor’s pension from their father own children, the other spouse’s children and adopted children: :

  • until they are 16 years old, or if they are studying, until they are 25 years old,
  • regardless of age, if they become completely incapable of work before the age of 16 or, if continuing education, before the age of 25.

In addition, they can also count on their father’s survivor’s pension other children, including grandchildren and siblings adopted for upbringing before reaching the age of majority and at least one year before death. The exception are minors raised and maintained in a foster or family children’s home.

How much is the father’s survivor’s pension? The amount may vary

The amount of the survivor’s pension depends on the number of people who are entitled to it. All because it is only one benefit which, if necessary, is divided equally among all entitled persons. For this reason, there are three thresholds:

  • 85 percent deceased, when one person is entitled,
  • 90 percent benefits of the deceased when two people are entitled,
  • 95 percent deceased’s benefits when at least three or more people are eligible.

There is a survivor’s pension indexed every year and cannot be less than PLN 1,588.44. If after calculation it is lower, the total amount for everyone is increased to it.
