Diana and Karol met in 1977. At first, the future king dated her older sister, but their relationship did not last. When Charles was 32 and still unmarried, Buckingham Palace began pressuring him to find a wife and father an heir. Diana seemed to be the perfect candidate: she was 13 years younger than Charles, healthy and of high birth.

Charles proposed to Diana in February 1981. From the very beginning, there was speculation as to whether his feelings for Spencer were sincere. There were rumors about his relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles. Nevertheless, in July of the same year, the couple married. Even Camilla herself appeared at the wedding.

The broadcast was watched by 750 million people. Diana’s wedding dress was decorated with 10,000 pearls, had an 8-meter long train and an even longer veil. According to tradition, the Princess of Wales wore something old (lace from Queen Mary’s time), borrowed (family tiara), new (silk used to sew the dress) and blue (bow at the waist).

Princess Diana’s wedding outfit. What was written on the shoes?

6 months. That’s how long it took to make the shoes that Diana wore on her wedding day. They were decorated with approximately 500 sequins and 130 pearls. They arranged themselves in a heart pattern at the front. The shoes had a low heel so that the duchess was not taller than her husband. Additionally, she asked the designer to place a small decorative accent in the form of two letters on the sole.

It was about the letters “C” and “D”, the initials of Charles and Diana. They are embroidered on a pillowcase with a floral motif. The whole Princess of Wales went down in history, and brides are still inspired by her dress. Unfortunately, Diana and Charles’ marriage did not last. They divorced in August 1996, and a year later the duchess died in a car accident.
