Concert with Old Napo

Hector Napolitano (Viejo Napo) returns to the stage with his new musical proposal The Neapolitan, special sauce, spicy recipe with a few hints of country, boogie, guaracha, merengue, rock & blues. There will be a tour of the rock of the 70s with themes from The Who, The Doors, Jimmy Hendrix, Santana, Joe Cocker, Ten Years After, among other greats of the genre. This presentation is the return of the Ecuadorian singer to his musical roots and his reunion with the electric guitar, and with genres that embedded him in the collective memory. In this new production he will be accompanied by his son Lucas Napolitano (guitar and voice), Sebastián Romano (bass) and Rodrigo Brañas (drums). Tangueros in Los Ceibos

To celebrate Tango Day, the dancer and promoter Dúval Barrezueta will offer, at 8:00 p.m., a free tango class for all attendees and then the milonga (dance) will open. In addition, every Wednesday from 20:00 they are milonga in Plazoleta Ceibos. For more information: 099-636-8268.

New Christmas attraction in Guayaquil

Visit the Administration Square, that has been illuminated with 5,000 meters of light hose LEDs, from Clemente Ballén and Malecón Simón Bolívar to Pedro Carbo, and from Pichincha and 10 de Agosto to Aguirre. The traditional christmas nativity and a Christmas tree 12 meters high. At birth, the work of ten artisans is reflected and it consists of a manger, the Child Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the three Wise Men, three camels, a real-scale angel, as well as a star. The characters will be made of resin and the nativity will be illuminated with 80 meters of Christmas lights.

Theater in different stages

Giovanna Andrade comes introducing Miss Funnyverse, a comedy in which she recounts her experience “representing” Ecuador in an important beauty pageant, with curious anecdotes from her life as an actress, woman and environmentalist. An unforgettable experience in which the Guayaquil actress shows another perspective of that controversial world of queens. Miss Funnyverse, a stand-up comedy about that secret place in the beauty of each one. This presentation is outdoors and has all the biosecurity, social distancing and Café Vino Bar standards for food and beverage consumption. God Save The Queen is a short rock opera in which the protagonist returns to our world and takes his stage to tell us his story. Audiences will be able to sing Queen’s hits during the play. It is a production of the North American Ecuadorian Center presented at the Paulsen Studio. Direction and dramaturgy by Raúl Sánchez McMillan, with the performance of Hugo Alejandro. Free admission until capacity is reached (40 people per function). Double performance on Wednesday, December 8 and 15 at 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., Numa Pompilio Llona (Las Peñas neighborhood).

Christmas exhibitions

The exhibition of the births that the Nahim Isaías museum treasures was inaugurated and that show from heritage pieces of the colonial and republican art reserve, belonging to the Quito School, to popular births from Ecuador and other countries of the world, dialoguing with each other, with different representations, formats and materials used for its elaboration. The temporary room on the first floor of the museum will welcome the public to admire Births since the Colony, which includes paintings of the Holy Family, heritage sculptures with representations of characters and animals dating from the seventeenth century, incarnated and polychrome wood carvings, whose prominent figure is the Child Jesus, present in different formats in the collection. The public can enter for free to appreciate these and other treasures of the museum in the city center (for example, the permanent exhibition Jesus of Nazareth: life, way and art). Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., until January 7, 2022, at the Nahim Isaías Museum (Pedro Carbo and Clemente Ballén).

A sample of nativity scenes that differ in materials and origin was also inaugurated. There are pieces made with corn husks, traditional ceramics, porcelain, wood, silver, acrylics, metals, among others. Different ethnic groups from the world are represented. There are figures with Asian, African, European and American features. These births belonged to Father Hugo Vásquez and became part of the museum’s collection after his death in 2008. It will be open until January 6, 2022 at the Municipal Museum of Guayaquil (August 10 and Chile).

Last days of ‘Bodies’

Bodies, real human bodies. Exhibition in which you can see eight human bodies, eight torsos and more than a hundred healthy organs that are available to visitors to discover the inside of the body and how it works. The show is organized by the production company Arriba el Telón and has been seen by more than 30 million people in 50 countries. The show Guayaquil is the most modern of its kind, with more than 40 luminous LED panels and virtual guides, as well as face-to-face specialists in all rooms. It also has display cabinets and internal led lighting. The bodies are preserved using the plastination technique created by the German anatomist Gunther Von Hagens and are the result of a long process of more than 20 years of work. The main objective of the exhibition is to make the audience understand “how this true perfect machine, the human body, is constituted.” Tickets: $ 5, $ 3 and $ 2.50. Open from Monday to Thursday (12:00 to 20:00), Friday (12:00 to 21:00), Saturdays (10:00 to 21:00) and Sundays (from 10:00 to 20:00), until on December 20, at the Palacio de Cristal (Malecón Simón Bolívar).

Samples in Samborondón and Guayaquil

The light from heaven is the painting exhibition of the Ecuadorian artist, humanist and curator Mikaela Báez Jalil, with the support of the Beck’s brand. In thirty-eight works, Mikaela captures the sensations and experiences left by her search and discovery of a new vision of life, her wounds, her healing, her reunion with spirituality and her awakening. Free entry. The exhibition will be open until December 15, from Monday to Sunday, from 11:00 to 21:00, in Plaza Lagos.

The Anthropological and Contemporary Art Museum (MAAC) maintains the exhibition Meditation Pieces, by Patricia Meier, which adds 50 works inspired, in part, by Japanese philosophy. Covers series Kintsugi, Sashiko, Barrocos and Spinners. “The idea of kintsugi is that when something breaks we must try to fix it in the most precious way, without hiding the repair … Scars remind us how strong we are “, says Meier, who offers today, at 11:00, a guided tour in which he will discuss the creative process of his work.
