What constitutes a teacher’s salary? There are several components
The amount of a teacher’s salary depends on many factors, which are distinguished (it is an act regulating the duties and rights of teachers). We can read in it that the total amount includes the following issues:
- essential,
- allowances: for long service, motivational, functional, for serving as a class teacher, for working conditions – their amount depends on, among others, on the period of employment, quality of work and additional tasks,
- remuneration for overtime hours and ad hoc replacement hours,
- awards and other benefits resulting from the employment relationship.
The basic salary varies depending on the level of promotion, qualifications and the number of additional activities. Its amount is determined annually in the Budget Act. According to the regulations, the average salary of teachers is a given percentage of the base amount. More precisely it is:
- 120 percent for a beginner teacher,
- 144 percent for an appointed teacher,
- 184 percent for a certified teacher.
How much does a teacher earn in 2023? Here are the minimum amounts
Currently, the base amount on the basis of which teachers’ remuneration is calculated is PLN 3,981.55. According to , this means that educators with higher education and teaching preparation can count on a minimum salary of:
- PLN 3,690 gross for beginners,
- PLN 3,890 gross for appointed teachers,
- PLN 4,550 gross for certified teachers.
The above-mentioned allowances should also be added to the above amounts, but it must be remembered that their amount depends on various factors and not everyone can count on them.
