“A Day and a Half” is a new Netflix movie based on true events. It is a story about the boundless love of a father who is able to do anything to embrace his beloved consolation again. The production is already a sensation among Polish users of the platform.

The latest proposals stick you in the chair and make you think. It is no different in the case of the Swedish thriller “A Day and a Half”, which joined the platform’s library on September 1, 2023. The directorial debut of Fares Fares, known for his poignant role in the blockbuster , met with great enthusiasm of the viewers, thus breaking the ratings records. Currently, the production is ranked 5th on the list of top 10 films in Poland.

It is not without significance that the plot of the film “A Day and a Half” was inspired by . The main character is Artan, who has been unable to see his beloved daughter for a long time. As a consequence of the excruciating longing, he decides to take a desperate step. Regardless of the consequences, he enters the clinic where his ex-wife Louise works. The terrified woman quickly becomes his hostage. A policeman, Lukas, accompanies him in the kidnapping. The three of them run through Sweden at breakneck speed, and the uniformed services follow them. Will Artan overcome adversity? How will his dramatic fight for a child end?

One thing is certain – “Day and a half” is not only a journey full of excesses through various corners of Sweden. It is also a way to get to know the recesses of the human psyche and understand the mechanisms that guide it in the most difficult moments. It is a story of boundless love, forgiveness and empathy. The heroes will repeatedly be forced to make decisions for which they do not want to take responsibility and admit mistakes they would rather never make.

Fares Fares’s directorial debut is a sensation. He was inspired by real events

The success of the production is certainly due to the script, which keeps the viewer in suspense until the last moments, serving an emotional rollercoaster, and each subsequent step of the characters brings new dilemmas and unexpected twists. Fares Fares, who joined forces with Peter Smirnakos, is responsible for its creation. The inspiration was an article that the creator read back in 2008. In the poignant story of a father desperately fighting for contact with his child, he saw potential for a film. However, it took a long time before he realized his vision. Everything indicates, however, that the production will be another great hit in his artistic output.

The production cast featured a plethora of the biggest stars. The role of Artan was played by Alexej Manvelov, and the policeman was also created by the director Fares, who has many excellent roles to his credit, including the aforementioned “Chernobyl”, “Westworld” and “Wheel of Time”. Other roles were played by Alma Poysti, Stina Ekblad, Annika Halin, Richard Forsgren, Anica Liljeblad and Jonathan Sand.
