The Hollywood Academy yields every year Governor Awards “in honor of a lifetime achievement, an exceptional contribution to the state of the motion picture arts and sciences, or outstanding service to the Academy.”

This ceremony, known as the ‘Honorary Oscars’ because the famous gold statuettes are delivered, it was scheduled for November 18, but was postponed to January 7, 2024 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

The institution has announced this date change due to the framework of the strikes by the actors’ union (SAG-AFTRA) and scriptwriters (WGA) in Hollywood.

But this is not the first ceremony to be hit by the strikes led by Hollywood writers and actors, who are demanding improvements from the studios in the payment of residual dues and regulation of artificial intelligence, among other things.

The Television Academy and the Fox network have postponed the Emmy Awards to January 15, 2024, previously scheduled for September 18. (JO)
