Gary Wright made himself known to the world with the 1979 hit “Dream Weaver”. Unfortunately, in a statement sent to the media by the singer’s son, we read that the musician had been fighting progressive Parkinson’s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies for six years.

Gary Wright was 80 years old. He died surrounded by his loved ones last Monday at his home in California. His son Justin Wright in an interview with Rolling Stone confessed that the last years of his life were especially hard for his father.

Although Gary Wright was an active musician for several decades, he made two hits in music history – “Dream Weaver” and “Love is Alive”. “Dream Weaver” still makes it to the compilations of many contemporary films about friendship and love – you can hear the song, among others in “Toy Story 3”, one of the parts of “Ice Age” or in the series “Glee”. Gary Wright was friends with who invited him to collaborate on the solo album “All Things Must Pass” – the musician was responsible for the keyboards. Harrison and Wright shared a love for India: “They quickly became friends. It was George who showed my father the spiritual path,” says the musician’s son in an interview with Rolling Stone. Their friendship lasted until the Beatles’ death.
In the 1990s, he was keen on film music, but later returned to his own works. In 2010, he released his last album. After “Dream Weaver” and “Love is Alive” he never created a similarly great hit, but his songs were willingly processed by other musicians. Fragments of songs were used as samples, and covers were also created.
