Although he has been associated with the music scene for over five decades, he is still one of the most popular Polish artists. Ryszard Rynkowski created and promoted many unforgettable hits. He has been through a lot privately. First he had to face the death of his wife, and when he found love again, he had a breakdown.
He started his career as a vocalist of the band VOX. He promoted many timeless hits
Ryszard Rynkowski showed a passion for music from an early age. He first learned to play the piano, and then began studying at a music school. He was a member of many amateur bands in his hometown of Elbląg. He made his stage debut in 1972, performing with the El group during the Student Culture Festival in Olsztyn. A year later, he decided to move to Warsaw, where he established cooperation with the Warsaw Operetta and Teatr na Targówek.
The real breakthrough in his career came in 1979 when he joined Vox, previously known as the Victoria Singers. During this time, he created and promoted many hits, including “Bananowy song” or the cult song “Happy road, it’s time”. In 1987, he decided to end his cooperation with the formation and began a solo career. He performed many times on the Opole stage during the National Festival of Polish Song, becoming its laureate four times. They’ve been topping the list for years. His most popular songs include: “Let’s drink to mistakes”, “Women’s way”, “Life is a novella”, “Too young too old” or “Girls like brown”.
The illness and death of his beloved wife were a blow to him. He couldn’t accept the loss
Although he triumphed on stage and achieved incredible successes, his private life was full of difficult, sometimes dramatic moments. The first wife of Ryszard Rynkowski was Hanna. They met in the early 1970s and soon got married. In 1978, their long-awaited daughter Marta was born. In the meantime, the singer toured more and more often, and numerous events made him addicted to alcohol. This was the reason for frequent fights and quarrels with his wife. At one point, his marriage was in jeopardy. When Rynkowski started his solo career, everything slowly began to fall into place. Then the doctors diagnosed Hanna with breast cancer and it was necessary to implement treatment, which was exhausting for the woman’s body. then he moved into the shadows to spend more time with his family. He took care of his wife and raised a growing daughter.
When I talk about it, I always get emotional. It hurt me the most when I borrowed a wheelchair for Hania, because she couldn’t walk anymore. I wanted to pay for it, and the nurse said: ‘Ryszard, in two weeks you’ll pay us back anyway’. Maybe she didn’t mean what she was saying. I cried in the car
— in an interview with “Viva”. Although the doctors did not give too many chances for his wife’s recovery, the artist believed until the last moments that his beloved would defeat cancer. Unfortunately, Hanna Rynkowska died in 1996. They were married for 23 years.
After a decade, a new woman appeared in his life. “It was a revelation”
Nearly 10 years after Hanna’s death, a new one appeared in Ryszard Rynkowski’s life. He met Edyta, who was his faithful fan, after one of his concerts.
I was signing, signing, and at one point I looked up and saw a beautiful girl with huge eyes in front of me. It was a dazzle
– he mentioned in “Viva”. They met for coffee the next day and have been almost inseparable ever since. In 2006, they decided to get married and only then publicly announced their relationship. After two years, the artist’s second child, Ryszard Junior, appeared in the world. The family idyll was interrupted in 2016 by Rynkowski’s problems related to too few contracts for concerts. In addition, in the town where the artist lived, rumors began that his partner was having a relationship with a priest. According to press reports, the musician even got into a fight with a priest, but soon it turned out that these were ordinary slander and the gentlemen cleared up all the disagreements. — The priest from the pulpit was convincing the faithful that he had nothing in common with Rynkowski’s wife — one of the inhabitants of Brodnica. All these situations had a negative impact on the singer, who was looking for a release by drinking alcohol. In the most difficult moments, Edyta, the musician’s wife, persistently stood by his side and eventually the marriage survived the crisis. Currently, they create a happy family and raise their 14-year-old son together.
