“Kevin home alone” this Saturday in Polsat? Yes, it’s not Christmas, what’s the point?
Christmas Eve, 8:00 p.m., commercials end and “Home Alone” begins. Everyone is already well-fed, some are still cramming cheesecake, but . This is how Christmas looks like in many homes in Poland.
This Saturday you will feel just like on this magical day – although according to the weather forecast no snow is expected for the weekend, there will be no gifts either, and cheesecake can be made with fresh fruit, it is on this day that Polsat become a Christmas classic. Polsat will show “Kevin” this Saturday at 20:00. Why? And why not?
Recall that in 2010 Polsat decided to cancel the broadcast of “Kevin” on Christmas. The dissatisfaction of the viewers was so huge that a protest action was launched under the slogan “Polsat killed Christmas 2010 – this year there will be no Kevin!”. Since then, when the petition was signed by over 50,000 people (!), Polsat shows the film on Christmas Eve at 20:00. And the production enjoys almost unflagging popularity and is watched by up to four million Poles every year.
We asked Polsat if the Christmas issue was threatened in connection with the Saturday broadcast of “Kevin alone at home”, but we have not received an answer until the publication of the text. However, we do not think that the station would dare raise a hand against a tradition that has already grown into the habits of society for good. We hope that this year the action “Polsat killed Christmas 2023” will not be needed … And this is not a threat. It’s just a friendly warning.
