There is a trailer for “Green Border”. It’s a film that you can’t be indifferent to

Agnieszka Holland’s latest film has not had its premiere yet, and according to some, it can already boast of being the most controversial production of the year. “Green Border” will soon debut at the festival in Venice, and in the trailer we see the perspective of the refugee crisis from the point of view of three social groups – Polish activists, border guards and refugees.

“Green Border” is the upcoming production of three-time Oscar nominee Agnieszka Holland, which will be shown for the first time during the 80th Venice International Film Festival. The film will start showing in Polish cinemas soon, on September 22.

This is one of those productions that will evoke extreme emotions in many

The story presented in the film is fictional, but it was based on real events that have been happening on the Polish-Belarusian border for two years. The script of the film is a joint work of Agnieszka Holland, director Gabriela Łazarkiewicz-Sieczko and writer Maciej Pisuk, and work on it was preceded by hundreds of hours of document analysis, interviews with refugees, border guards, borderland residents, activists and experts.

As we read in the information sent by the distributor: “The poignantly current ‘Green Border’ is a cinema committed to an important topic. A cinema that opens the eyes, goes straight to the heart and leaves no one indifferent.” In the production, we will observe the world presented from three perspectives: refugees, Polish activists and border guards.

The main character of the production is Julia (Maja Ostaszewska), a psychologist who decides to move to Podlasie. She is met by the brutal reality of the Polish-Belarusian borderland. Terrified by this situation, she decides to help refugees and joins an activist group that helps the nomads in the forests of the emergency zone.

At the same time, a Syrian family fleeing from the civil war and their teacher from Afghanistan, not knowing that they are a tool of political deception by the Belarusian authorities, try to get to the borders of the European Union. In Poland, fate brings them together with Julia and a young border guard Jan (Tomasz Włosok). The events unfolding around them will force them all to ask themselves anew the question – what is humanity?

“The Green Border” is a Polish-Czech-French-Belgian-American co-production with the cast of: Maja Ostaszewska, Tomasz Włosok, Piotr Stramowski, Jaśmina Polak, Marta Stalmierska, Agata Kulesza, Maciej Stuhr and Magdalena Popławska and foreign actors – Jalal Altawil, Behi Djanati Atai and Mohamed Alarashi. It will hit Polish cinemas on September 22, and the title has already been distributed in over 20 European countries.
