Will the new “Quick” make a sensation? Leszek Lichota talked about the backstage of the making of the film

As part of the promotion, Leszek Lichota appeared in the studio to give an interview to Dorota Wellman and Marcin Prokop. He admitted that it was a challenge to face the cult hero whom viewers loved thanks to the production from the 80s, but he treated it as a “reward of fate”, because such an opportunity does not happen to everyone. “If I hadn’t taken it, someone else would have taken it, and I would have regretted it for the rest of my life.” I took it as a reward. […] Once in a generation, or every two generations, someone will be able to play “Quack”, then if fate brought it to me on a platter, it’s a challenge, and I like challenges – he confessed.

The actor also talked about the process of making the film and the beginnings of work on the set. He admitted that he approached the role with great commitment, he decided to grow a beard and hair to be as authentic on the screen as possible. – We wanted everything to be as real as possible – he emphasized and assured that the whole team put a lot of effort and work into presenting this story from a completely different perspective than before. – The language of cinema is changing, our sensitivity is changing, so each generation, in my opinion, has the right to tell certain such evergreens in its own way – explained the actor of the title character.

The creators did not want the new installment to be a remake of Hoffman’s painting, but only another adaptation of the book. They put great emphasis primarily on addressing other, additional issues in addition to the main thread, which in earlier versions did not have a chance to resound. – We gave some modern thinking to these characters, even though they are set in the 1930s – he said. “We had to be honest about the story in some way and not pretend, not play it up,” he said.
