In recent years, many people have opted for black fittings in their bathrooms and kitchens. In many apartments we can see taps, rain showers, and even sinks and bathtubs in this color. Are users happy with it? It seems that they do, provided they have plenty of free time to devote to cleaning them.

You need to have nerves of steel and too much free time, because cleaning it up is a torture. I thought the clear or chrome ones were worse because you can see the dirt and that ugly yellowish stone on them. But what you see on black is crying out to heaven for vengeance. Not only is this stone visible for 10 meters, but it is also difficult to get rid of it. Chrome surfaces are slippery, and the matte black ones stick to everything and are extremely difficult to clean.

The fault of laziness? not at all

We thought about black faucets in the bathroom long before the renovation. We felt that they would harmonize nicely with the colors we wanted – blue tiles on the wall, gray slabs imitating concrete on the floor, wooden elements. The interior designer who helped us design the room also encouraged black fittings. Unfortunately, 2-3 months after the renovation, it turned out that it was a mistake and probably in some time we will have to change these taps to traditional ones.

It is worth noting that – according to the opinions of clearly not very satisfied users – the problem with limescale on black fittings is not a matter of negligence. As it turns out, it is difficult to find specifics that will not damage their surface.

While the faucet at the sink looks ok, the one in the shower is in a terrible condition. It looks like the paint is starting to peel off around the edges. You can also see the water deposit, which is difficult to wash – we tried different ways, and we can’t use strong detergents so as not to damage this black color even more. Also, if someone is thinking about black taps, I advise against them – they look nice in the pictures in catalogs, but in everyday use they do not work at all
