Maciej Stuhr about his father: Many times I was proudest of him in the world. Sometimes it’s a shame

From September 8, viewers will be able to follow the third season of “Belfra”. This time the title character returns to his hometown – Lesser Poland. He is brought there by his father – Captain Bogdan Zawadzki (played by Jacek Koman). As it turns out, it is the relationship with his father that is the key to Paweł’s personality and the kind of man he became.

Stuhr: Many times I was the proudest dad in the world

Although there are many unexplained matters from the past between them, they go on a school cruise together. The captain commands the ship, and Paweł takes care of the high school graduates from his new parenting class. Trouble, as usual, finds the main character by itself. One evening, in mysterious circumstances, one of the students disappears from the deck – only his life jacket is found on the water. A scandal breaks out, and the captain himself seems to be involved. Belfer starts an investigation, but his own father doesn’t make things easy for him.

Unexplained secrets from their family past come to light, and the captain is very reluctant to share details of his life with his son. And this is extremely irritating to Paweł, because he feels treated like a small child – meanwhile, he tries to help his father, because he sees that he has made very serious mistakes that threaten him. It is impossible not to notice at this point that in the case of this thread, art literally imitates life. It’s sad to recall that in 2022, the actor’s father was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. So it was hard to avoid asking how he was doing in this situation:

I am entering a new chapter in my life and my relationship with my dad, who is simply a very sick man. Unfortunately, he slowly begins to lose touch with reality. He is no longer the same man that not only I knew, but we all know and remember him. Sometimes we think we’re dealing with this man, but he’s already a little bit different.

It is difficult, very difficult. He was a great authority for me all my life, and I must admit that at times this monument wobbles. Sometimes you’re proud – I’ve been the proudest man in the world many times, and sometimes it’s embarrassing. It’s also an unfamiliar feeling to me.
