Claude Ruiz Picassoone of the sons Spanish master of painting Pablo Picasso, died this Thursday in Switzerland, as his lawyers confirmed for EFE. The eldest son from the marriage of a man from Malaga with the also French painter and writer Françoise Gilot, Claude Ruiz Picasso was born in 1947 in Boulogne-Billancourt and worked all his life as a photographer, businessman and filmmaker.

His death occurred today in Switzerland, as confirmed to EFE by his lawyer in France, Jean-Jacques Neuer, without additional comments for now. Until July last year, the deceased took care of the management of Picasso’s legacywhen it passed into the hands of his younger sister Paloma.

At the request of his mother Françoise Gilot, he was named after Claude Gillot, a pioneering French Rococo artist and mentor of fellow artist Jean-Antoine Watteau, but he carried that name until he was 12 years old.
Pablo Picasso had two more children, now deceased: Paul Picasso (1921-1975), from a relationship with Olga Jojlova, and Maya Widmaier-Picasso (1935-2022), with Marie-Thérèse Walter. (AND)
