48-year-old Bradley Cooper has been free of alcohol and drugs for nineteen years. Recently, he was one of the guests on the show “Adventure with Bear Grylls: Challenge”, in which he decided to tell more about those times. He also raised the theme of show business and revealed what is the greatest loss in his life.

During the episode with Cooper, the host decided to raise the subject of drugs, which used to be an important part of the actor’s life. “I’ve lost myself in alcohol and drugs, but never in fame,” he admitted bluntly. Fortunately, the actor is now free from addiction, but the experiences of that period led him to create a film that received seven Oscar nominations and one statuette.

Of course, it’s about the production of “A Star Is Born”, in which Cooper also played one of the main characters – the addicted musician, Jack. “Thank God that I’m at this point in my life and that I was able to delve into this role. I’m very lucky, it’s a real blessing. I hope I will continue to do so,” he confessed in an interview with Grylls.

Later in the interview, he also returned to 2011, when his father died after losing his battle with lung cancer. “He hugged me tightly and died in my arms. To see such proof of mortality … Definitely, after this event, I had a very nihilistic attitude towards life. ‘I’ll just die,'” he recalled in the program.

The star recently directed a film in which he also played the main role. It’s called “Maestro” and will premiere on December 20, 2023 on Netflix. It will follow the love story of Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein over 30 years – from their first meeting at a party in 1946, through a two-time engagement, 25 years of marriage and three children.
