‘P*t@s social networks’According to the filmmaker, it is about the double life behind influencers and people who publish on social networks, but with his characteristic touch of humor.

“There is nothing rosy behind social networks and behind every perfect post you see on Instagram and on Facebook,” said Ulloa. It’s a premise that he identifies with, as the fame Enchufe TV brought him made him an influencer on social networks.

Ulloa co-wrote the script with his girlfriend, the actress Natalie Valencia: “We thought it was an important topic, which we really talked about in a very human way.”

An important contribution to that project was Eugene DerbezMexican actor and comedian.

“He and his team received it and we started showcasing it on various platforms, including Amazon Primeand they wanted to be a part of it,” says Jorge Ulloa, who believes his chemistry with Derbéz stems from the fact that he was a guest in one of the skits of TV connection.

“We met and there was such great chemistry it was almost like ‘when are we doing something big?’ This was the time we finally got together, him as an executive producer. Nathaly Valencia and me as creators, and me as director of this project.

Ulloa said so then Amazon Prime decided to shoot the series, he asked if the cast would be Mexican: “This series was born in Ecuador, the writers are from Ecuador, a large part of the team is from Ecuador, but the series itself has almost the entire cast from Mexico”.

However, the filmmaker is sure Ecuadorians will find many nods or details to the country’s culturewhile the series is still understood all over the world.

“We believe this is due to the sincerity of the project It can become universal, it doesn’t matter if it was shot in Mexico or EcuadorWhat we want is for someone in Japan to feel identified,” Ulloa emphasises. “If our industry is to be profitable, we must think that our products must be global.”

He expects the success ofP*t@s social networks’ whatever opens the doors for the national film industry. “I believe in this law of the piñata: One strikes and all grabs,” he laughed.

The series will premiere on Amazon Prime on September 15.
