Jerzy Połomski was one of the most recognizable stars of the Polish stage. He died in November 2022 at the age of 89, leaving behind many timeless hits. One of such songs is the song “Bo with Girls”, which Połomski performed for the first time at the festival in Opole, taking third place at the time.
Połomski’s dance version had already been played. And that during the artist’s lifetime
This fact did not go unnoticed by the producers of this year’s festival in Opole. This year’s refreshed version of the iconic song was presented on the stage of the show by DJ Gromee and rapper Wiatr. However, many Internet users did not like this arrangement. “How can you pollute the memory of Połomski… Shame” – commented on Twitter. Meanwhile, few people know that this year’s remake of the legendary hit is not the only one that was created in dance climates.
In 2004, a cover of the song “Bo z Girls” was recorded by Mandarin, placing it on her debut album “Mandaryna.com”. The album was produced by the German dance music group Groove Coverage, which was very popular at the time. Just like the singer, who could not complain about the lack of interest from the fans until the fall at the festival in Sopot a year later.
Her version, however, never gained much publicity. Probably not because of the performance and arrangement, but Mandarin decided not to release this song as a single at that time. And in the pre-streaming era, songs that didn’t promote the release in the media didn’t have as much of a chance to be popular. The single promoting Mandarin’s first album was the song “Here I Go Again”, which was also a cover – this time by the band Whitesnake. The song quickly conquered the charts and allowed Mandarin to be one of the most popular singers in Poland for the next year.
