Who was Józef Kański?
Józef Kański was born in Warsaw on October 21, 1928. He studied classical philology and musicology at the University of Warsaw. Later he studied theory and composition at the State Higher School of Music in Warsaw.
He was an outstanding journalist, music critic and opera theater expert. He worked in and co-created the monthly magazine for music lovers “Ruch Muzyczny”. Recognition brought him a performance in the game show “Wielka Gra”, where for some time he acted as an expert.
In 1974, Józef Kański received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, and a few months later he was honored with the “Distinguished Cultural Activist” badge. The musician also received the silver and gold medal “Zasłużony Kulturze Gloria Artis”.
