An unpleasant smell from shoes is a very embarrassing, but at the same time common problem. It affects both women and men, and an unpleasant odor can emanate from sports and textile shoes, as well as elegant sandals or high heels. However, there are ways to get rid of the problem.
How to get rid of unpleasant smell from shoes?
Most often, shoes made of poor quality materials smell unpleasant. This also applies to shoes in which foot ventilation leaves much to be desired. As a result, moisture (sweat) is not drained and after even a short time of use, the shoes begin to smell unpleasant for the nose. The basic principle here is also good ventilation and drying of shoes. If it is damp, it should not be locked in a cupboard, but should be placed, for example, on a balcony until it is completely dry.
If the unpleasant odor has already appeared, you can put a tea bag in the shoes or wrap coffee beans in gauze. Both absorb odors well. Pieces of charcoal work in the same way, but they should be placed in a textile bag so as not to soil the inside of the shoes. Additionally, you can invest in inserts with activated carbon that prevent this unpleasant problem.
Cat litter passes the test
Cat owners who have plenty of cat litter believe that it, like nothing else, absorbs not only moisture, but also unpleasant odors. It’s similar here: pour the gravel into a textile bag (you can use a thin sock) and put it in shoes, preferably at night. And if we don’t have cat litter on hand, we can use baking soda in the same way. If the problem is with textile shoes that can be washed in the washing machine, it is a good idea to wash them once in a while at a low temperature.
