Father Sebastian Picur is one of the most popular Polish priests active in social media. His account on TikTok is already followed by over 712,000 people. In his opinion, such activity is a great way to reach people who are not related to the church.
– The bishop gives me the green light for this kind of evangelization. He knows that he is very much needed today. Social media is a tool to reach people who are not present in the church every day. Due to the pandemic, people whose faith was not alive and deep no longer regularly attend church, he said in an interview with the Aleteia.org portal.
Father Sebastian Picur about gifts for baptism
The priest very often answers the questions of his viewers. Recently, a woman raised the topic of baptism gifts. – How much should the godparent give to the baptism envelope for the child? she asked. The priest recorded a short video in response to the question.
The priest admitted that he did not think envelopes filled with cash were the most appropriate gift. – Gifts should relate to faith. Money, on the other hand, is an individual matter, he said. At the end, the priest also addressed a question to the audience. – What’s your opinion? – He asked.
“Money is not the most important thing”
There were many comments under the video. A large part of the viewers agreed with the opinion of the priest. Some also shared their experiences. “On Thursday I became the godmother of little Łucja, for whom I bought a nice picture with an Angel watching over the child and with a dedication”, “You don’t give money, maybe a toy or a picture with a guardian angel”, “Money is not the most important thing. The most important thing is faith and transfer of beautiful spiritual values”, “The most important thing is to lead the child to faith” – we can read in the comment section under the post.
