When it comes to effective skin care, cleansing with oils can seem like a major mistake. You’ve probably come across a lot of warnings about avoiding such products, and it may seem like only oil-free products lead to clear skin. You may be wrong. Cleansing your face with oils is a way not only to gently remove make-up, but also to soothe sensitive skin and reduce blemishes. How do you add this step to your skincare routine?
Facial massage and cleansing oil. What effects can we expect?
The reasoning behind oiling the face in the name of cleansing stems from the idea that “like dissolves like.” In other words, the application of pure oils to the skin aims to:
- remove excess sebuman oily substance produced by glands on the skin,
- clean clogged pores, such as blackheads and blackheads,
- remove dead skinpollution and makeup.
This is why many makeup removers contain oil as it can remove even waterproof formulas. Traditional cleansers can irritate the skin, cause excessive dryness, aggravate acne and ultimately lead to it producing more sebum after washing. Using oils instead of traditional soaps or detergents can also help protect the skin’s natural lipid layer.
Homemade face wash oil? Create your own cosmetic based on natural ingredients
Different oils have different benefits, viscosities and fragrances. When choosing a cleanser, consider its properties and what you know about your skin. Opt for a clean version. Cold-pressed oils retain more of their nutrients. If you are new to oil cleansing, the most common blend to start with is olive oil and castor oil. Remember to do an allergy test on a small patch of skin before use.
- Start with a small amount and mix both oils in a 1:1 ratio.
- With your fingers, gently massage 3-5 drops of the oil blend into your face in circular motions for about a minute. This will loosen dirt and bacteria from the pores and help bring them to the surface.
- Rinse off the oil with lukewarm water. You can do it with your hands or use a wet towel, which we will gently put on the face.
- After cleansing and washing off the oil, you can proceed to the next part of face care.
