Michael Parkinson, host of the British talk show “Parkinson”, has died. He was bid farewell by the director of the BBC

Michael Parkinson, the British presenter, died on Thursday, August 17 at the age of 88. The death of the journalist was informed by his relatives. The presenter was also bid farewell by the director general of the BBC, Tim Davie.

Michael Parkinson hosted the popular “Parkinson” broadcast on the BBC for many years, in which he interviewed guests such as, George Michael, and . In total, the presenter had over 2,000 conversations with celebrities, musicians and movie stars.

Parkinson’s host dies

His family announced the journalist’s death in a statement to . Relatives reported that Michael Parkinson died after a short illness.

“Michael Parkinson passed away after a short illness. He passed away peacefully at home last night, accompanied by his family. The family asks for privacy and time to grieve.” – Written by the presenter’s family.

BBC Director-General Tim Davie also said goodbye to the journalist:

“Michael was the king of conversations… He interviewed the biggest stars of the 20th century and he did it in a way that wowed the audience. Michael was not only brilliant at asking questions, he was also a great listener. Michael was truly one of a kind, an amazing presenter and journalist, who we will miss greatly.” – he said.

Michael Parkinson gained popularity thanks to his appearance on the BBC’s “Twenty-Four Hours”. He also starred in Ghostwatch and Love Actually.
