The 67-year-old Danish director is currently single but has been married twice in the past. In 1987, he married director and actress Cæcilia Holbek, who bore him two daughters. The marriage did not last, however, and after nine years they decided to divorce. However, the director quickly found a new love and just a few months later became involved with Bente Frøge. The couple had two sons, but this relationship is also history. The second marriage of the director ended in 2015.
Controversial director up for grabs. “I suffer from Parkinson’s disease, obsessive compulsive disorder and alcoholism”
Lars von Trier is apparently tired of living alone and decided to look for a candidate for a new wife in an original way. On Instagram, he posted a video maintained in the convention of a matrimonial announcement. However, as befits a scandalist, he shared information about himself, which may scare away all interested women.
The director, above all, draws attention to his shortcomings. “I am 67 years old. I suffer from Parkinson’s disease, obsessive compulsive disorder and alcoholism, which I am currently under control,” he says in the recording. But then he also decides to introduce himself in superlatives:
With any luck, I should still have some material left in me for a few decent movies. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned ad where, knowing nothing about social media, I’m looking for a girlfriend/muse here,” he said in the video.
At the end of the video, she admits that she has some more positive qualities, but she doesn’t want to talk about them here. He also mentioned that on a good day and with the right company, he could even be charming. For those women who liked this form of recording, he left his e-mail address to which applications can be sent.
Lars von Trier has almost twenty productions to his credit. The director’s last feature film is “The House That Jack Built” from 2018, which tells the story of a serial killer who killed over 60 people in the 12 years of the 1970s and 1980s. His latest work is the miniseries “Kingdom: Exodus”, which was presented in Poland during this year’s New Horizons Film Festival. Screenings are also held in selected studio cinemas.
