Changes in bridging pensions. What do they rely on?

The most important change in the amendment is that it changes the expiring nature of bridging. This means that, above all, the provision that limited work in special conditions or of a special nature until January 1, 1999 has disappeared. In addition, the amendment, among others:

  • excludes the allowance for work in special conditions from the minimum wage
  • introduces protections for trade union activists regarding labor law,
  • increases the annual limit for deducting from income expenses related to membership fees for trade unions – from PLN 500 to PLN 840.

In the justification for the project, we can read that “the technological progress assumed at the time of the introduction of the provisions of the Act on Bridging Pensions will not improve the conditions to the extent that it can be said that the harmful conditions have been completely eliminated”. This should be evidenced by the number of employees who perform such work. Changes in bridging pensions also apply to compensation, i.e. compensation for the inability to acquire the right to early retirement due to work of a special nature. This period would fall before January 1, 2009. President Andrzej Duda is to sign the amendment on Wednesday.
