Beata Harasimowicz started her career in Telewizja Polska in 1992, right after graduation. She dealt mainly with journalistic programs, later also directing television programs. Eventually, however, she gained the title of “queen of cabaret”. All because since 2006 she began to focus on this area.
Polish “queen of cabaret” about her past on TVP
Beata Harasimowicz was called the Polish “queen of cabaret” for a reason. She was responsible for for Cabaret League of Two, “Thank God it’s weekend”, Masters of Cabaret, Cabaret Club of Two or Live Cabaret. As if that was not enough, she was also once a partner of the famous cabaret artist Robert Górski. In 2016, however, a breakthrough took place in her life – Harasimowicz decided to leave TVP and go to Polsat. Some time ago, with Onet, she honestly told about her past.
“You cannot mock the Church, Kaczyński, PiS, Smolensk”
As the “Polish queen of cabaret” recalls, many years ago, no one from TVP reacted to the bold content of sketches that touched on socio-political topics. – Every week, in the years 2009-2012, we prepared cabaret meetings of the government. It was really rough there, and yet there was no intervention. On the contrary, says Harasimowicz. Today, however, it is completely different. In an interview with Onet, the “queen of cabaret” even gave a list of forbidden topics that cannot be mocked in sketches.
– You cannot mock the Church, Kaczyński, PiS, Smolensk. In 2015, after PiS took power, TVP had a long list of prohibited topics. Preventive censorship began to work. People at middle management level, fearing dismissal, forbade it, but if the case went higher, the issue would probably take place. That’s why me and a group of cabarets that work with me in 2016 decided that there was no place for us there – she revealed.
