Izabela was six months pregnant when she was murdered by her husband in October 2019. Piotr choked her for 21 minutes. When she regained consciousness, his fingers closed around her neck again. After all, he went to the game. He did not know that Izabela accidentally recorded her death on a voice recorder.

Isabella and Piotr Sz. they had been married for 16 years. He was a city guard, she worked in MOPS. In October 2019, Izabela was six months pregnant. They had been trying for a child for a long time, and after two miscarriages, they decided on the in vitro method. In order to earn some extra money, the man started working a side job. He also had an affair with a co-worker. He began to visit the house less and less, and when he was there, quarrels arose between the spouses. Izabela began to complain that her husband was abusing her. She considered getting a blue card, then started thinking about divorce.

On October 17, 2019, she hid the voice recorder and decided to confront her unfaithful husband. Another quarrel ensued, during which the woman openly accused him of cheating. At one point, Piotr hit Izabela five times on the head, sat on her and began to strangle her. He was beating and clamping his fingers around his neck. Eventually, Isabella died. A child also died. After all, Peter went to play football. After the game, he went to the store to buy foil. He returned home, wrapped his wife’s body in it and took it to the forest. On Facebook, he posted a post: “Falled after the game, and the wife is sleeping.” The next day he went to work as if nothing had happened. He also telephoned Izabela’s mother. Finally, he reported his wife missing to the police. From the very beginning, the officers suspected him of committing . Two days later, Izabela’s body was found in the forest near Siewierz. Peter confessed to his wife.

The most important evidence in the case was the recording on which Izabela recorded her own death. It was thanks to him that it was possible to establish that Piotr Sz. choked his wife for 21 minutes. – For the first two minutes of suffocation, the victim was still able to speak. It was the repeated repetition of the words: “I beg you, child, I beg you!” – a judge in the Court of Appeal in the justification of the judgment. The words recorded on the tape were also read in the District Court during the announcement of the first conviction. They showed that when Izabela lost consciousness for the first time, Piotr was terrified of what he had done. – I’m sorry, oh Jesus, she’s dead, I f***. Poor baby, oh my baby, oh my God, baby, but maybe you’re already in heaven – . But when she woke up, he started choking her again.

Initially, the man was sentenced to 25 years in prison. The prosecution believed the sentence was too light, the defense argued it was too harsh. In June 2022, the Court of Appeal in Katowice changed the sentence to life imprisonment. A year later, the Supreme Court dismissed the cassation appeal filed by the defence. The courts of all three instances did not find any mitigating circumstances that would have resulted in a lower sentence.
