“Deep Fake Love” is a brand new show on offer. The show features five couples who have to face the possibilities of deepfake technology. It is an image processing technique that consists in generating human faces with the help of artificial intelligence. Participants of the program undergo successive tests of trust. At stake is one hundred thousand euros, i.e. almost half a million zlotys, and a relationship with a loved one. Among the lovers there were long-term couples and even fiancés.
Deep Fake Love is the cruelest show of all time? What is it about
The show hit Netflix on July 6 and caused a lot of controversy. Initially, the creators of the program separated the participants and placed them in separate houses. Then, apart from half couples, singles who want to break up existing relationships also went to each of the houses.
At the end of each day on the show, partners’ trust is put to the test. Each of the participants must watch videos of their partners cheating. Videos can be real or use deepfake technology. The task of the lovers is to correctly bet on whether there was really betrayal in their relationship.
Viewers are outraged by the new Netflix show
According to decider.com, the couples did not know that the videos they were seeing could be faked. This raises even more doubts about the ethics of the program among its viewers. Opinions appeared on the web that such tasks are real torture.
The Peta Pixel portal quotes agitated viewers. “I knew that artificial intelligence could mess things up, but watching this show gives you a different perspective. Soon we will stop believing our own eyes,” read one voice. “It’s like bad Black Mirror episodes, except it’s the real world. We fake videos to ruin relationships for our entertainment?” – asks another viewer who has doubts about the correctness of such a formula.
