The bouquet should include plants that bloom or bear fruit around August 15. First of all, cereals such as oats, rye, wheat and barley must not be missing. In the case of flowers, it is worth adding daisies or asters to it. You can’t forget about herbs, especially those with a healing effect, i.e. lemon balm, mint, chamomile, St. John’s wort, sage, thyme, mugwort, yarrow and others. When it comes to fruits and vegetables, the most common are: carrots, potatoes, heads of cabbage, twigs with late cherries or nuts, apples, pears and parsley. Sometimes they are stuffed on wooden sticks so that they do not fall out.

According to the consecrated bouquet, it acquired extraordinary properties, especially healing, but not only. It was used to incense the room, which was supposed to protect against fire, storm, illness or bad deeds. It was also used for healing or making infusions. Bouquets were kept close to sacred images, and sometimes left first in places where crops were stored to protect them from pests and spoilage. They were to protect the house, its inhabitants and animals.
