If there was one thing Diana of Wales enjoyed during her marriage to Carlos, now King of England, it was their summer holidays in Mallorca with the then Spanish kings Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofia.
The British couple received the first invitation from the Spanish monarchs in 1986 to spend a few days with them in Marivent Palacea property that the royals have enjoyed every summer since 1973.

Five years have passed since the wedding of Diana and Carlos when they agreed to spend unforgettable days in the official summer residence of the Spanish kings. On that occasion, they traveled with their children, five-year-old Prince William and three-year-old Prince Harry.
Although it was a discreet holiday, those from Great Britain agreed to pose officially with Juan Carlos and Sofia and their three children, Elena, Cristina and Felipe who were in their prime.

The moments that the couple experienced in these landscapes were so special for that time that they repeated their vacations in the Spanish paradise in the following years, specifically in 1987, 1988 and later in 1990, dates in which they did not hesitate to pose with their Spanish hosts and all their family.

Diana of Wales was delighted with the island and both families enjoyed their stay at the palace as much as their trips on the yacht Fortuna, as reported in a 2017 publication in the media house Semana.
Princess Diana knew how to use those moments in which there was no shortage of conversations with Queen Sofia and complicity with King Juan Carlos, while young Felipe joined the official inns like his sisters.
Some photos show the affection that the now King Emeritus of Spain began to feel for Prince William, with whom he constantly spoke and showed affection.

The Spanish media mention that during the last visits of Diana from Wales to Majorca, the crisis in her marriage with Carlos from England was already hinted at, so photographers sometimes came to capture the princess with a certain sadness on her face and somewhat distant from her husband, whom she separated from in 1992, and whose divorce was made official in 1996.

Today, the Marivent Palace has been in the hands of the Spanish kings for 50 years and continues to host the monarchs as they do every year on their summer vacations in Palma de Mallorca. (AND)
