Mathea Allansmith ran a marathon in 2022, earning her an entry in the “Guinness Book of Records”. All because when she crossed the finish line on December 11, she was 92 years and 194 days old. The route took her 10 hours and 48 minutes. She is the oldest woman in the world to do so.

Mathea Allansmith is now 93, a retired physician, and lives in Hawaii where she runs year-round. He tries to exercise at least six days a week and runs a total of about 59 kilometers during that time. He does not give up training even when he is on vacation. Interestingly, she only started running at the age of 46, when her doctor recommended it. After the first runs, she fell in love with this sport and since then she has practiced it regularly, and also takes part in races. She ran the marathon for the first time in 1982.

Mathea revealed in an interview with , that she does not let her age slow her down, and she feels the happiest when she is on tour. She loves not only in itself, but also the whole surrounding, i.e. the people she greets while passing or the beautiful views stretching along the path she has marked out. In addition, she is happy that thanks to her passion she has become part of society, with which she can exercise and leave the house, and besides, she can discover new corners. “I know I can walk 15 miles or more on foot, so I put on my backpack and head out for the day to explore the city,” she said.

In 2022, after running over 42 kilometers, she completed the Honolulu Marathon as the oldest woman to do so. The run took her 10 hours and 48 minutes. This achievement landed her in the Guinness Book of Records. “I felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment and joy,” she said. During the marathon, she could count on the support of her most devoted fans, i.e. six of her fans, who on this occasion put on matching T-shirts with information about their mother’s feat.

He owes his good shape and health to running. Still trying new things

Mathea, 93, attributes her good health to running and her lifestyle. “I see a direct link between exercise and health,” she admitted. Despite his age, he still drives a car, participates in many social activities, travels and learns new things. “I would say my healthy lifestyle has allowed me to maintain a very high quality of life,” she said.
