The schedules of the largest Polish television stations have for some time included many programs in which we can get to know the lives of seniors better. The most popular format of this type is the TVP1 dating show Sanatorium of Love, in which we observe the search for love by seniors. This fall, a similar program was offered by the TVN Style station, which announces a new program about seniors entitled. “Life begins at 60.”
After the success of TVP’s programs, now TVN wants to show the lives of seniors closer
In the latest show, we are to observe the lives of extraordinary seniors who, despite their age, have the courage to enjoy life and reach for their dreams. The TVN Style program is to convince that retirement does not have to be equal to living in an armchair in front of the TV and cooking dinners.
The new format fits perfectly into the ubiquitous trend for programs with seniors in the lead role. In addition to the above-mentioned “Sanatorium of love”, the schedule of Telewizja Polska also includes “The Voice Senior”, in which we can follow the struggles of people over 60 on stage.
Polsat is also planning a program in this type of format. Next year he wants to show the program “Fittest pensionar”, in which we will also watch seniors in the lead role. In addition, the second season of “Green Glove Gang” will appear on Netflix, in which the main characters are three women who are already retired.
One of the heroes will be the oldest DJ in Poland
At the moment, it is known that in the program “Life begins after 60”, one of the main characters will be Wirginia Szmyt, or DJ Wika – the oldest DJ in Poland. The woman is 84 years old and is also a social activist who is very involved in senior issues. After retiring, she joined the activities for seniors as part of the University of the Third Age.
DJ Wika was also the main character of the documentary “Vika!” directed by Agnieszka Zwiefka, which we could watch during this year’s edition of the Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival. The film is slated for a theatrical release in the fall, and will be available later on the HBO Max streaming service.
