“Polish policemen increasingly play the role of guardians of morals, who rigorously supervise the almost complete ban on abortion. The officers are capable of almost anything – even pumping a septic tank in search of a fetus,” writes the German MDR station. She described the general situation in Poland as “abortion psychosis”.
German station in harsh words about the situation in Poland
According to the report of the correspondent of the German station, Cezary BazydÅ‚o, in the case of suspected abortion, women in Poland “are treated as criminals”, which in turn leads to seeking help from doctors in the Czech Republic. – Humiliating police operations cause a stir across the country – MDR. The author of the article also cites the cases of women reported in the Polish press. He mentions e.g. about 41-year-old Ola from Warsaw. A wife and mother of a three-year-old son desperately wanted a second child. Unfortunately, in the 18th week of pregnancy, she had a miscarriage.
Despite the traumatic experience and indescribable pain, the woman was still interrogated because of the suspicion of an abortion. – It seems that the nurse notified the police, claiming that Ola allegedly had an abortion with the help of drugs. The police came to the hospital They watched her every step of the way and forced to give a blood sample, writes MDR. As if that wasn’t enough, the woman’s home was also ordered to search the sewage system for the fetus.
“The Polish state is running amok”
Another example cited by the German station is the situation of Joanna from Krakow. The woman performed a medical abortion, then the doctor notified the police. The officers took Joanna’s phone and laptop, and escorted her to the hospital. According to the MDR, however, there are many more similar cases. After the publicity of the case of Ola and Joanna, more and more women report who – according to the German station – “are in the crosshairs of the state apparatus because of suspected abortion”. For this reason, more and more pregnant women seek medical care abroad, most often in the Czech Republic.
At the word “abortion” the Polish state runs amok and for no apparent reason starts chaotic procedures. This is heading in a dangerous direction. The police have already broken a number of laws
– says Aleksandra Kosiorek, a specialist in medical law in an interview with MDR.
