The Call for Help was first launched in Canada by the Canadian Women’s Foundation on April 14, 2020. It has received wide recognition from local, national and international news organizations for helping to provide a modern solution to the rising incidence of domestic violence. It is one-handed gesturewith which a person can warn others that they feel threatened, experience violence and need help. It was designed as single continuous hand movement, and not as held in one position that could be easily seen. The international “Help me” sign does not require close contact, so it can be shown through a window or during a conversation over the Internet.
