The producer of “Raport Pilecki” on the change of director: The decision was made with the consent of Mr. Wosiewicz

The previous director Leszek Wosiewicz’s version was rejected in 2020 after a screening for representatives of TVP, PISF, WFDiF, the Ministry of Culture and selected filmmakers. In an interview with wp.pl, one of the projection participants anonymously told about his impressions after the screening: “It was a narrative and dramatic disaster. It was badly told, it is not clear what it was about. There was no main character. it becomes clear who is the hero here and what the hero wants. There is no drama. Wosiewicz, to put it mildly, escaped the topic.”

The producer of “The Pilecki Report” about the change of director: A joint decision

The decision to change the director and hire Krzysztof Łukasiewicz caused a lot of controversy. The producer of the picture, the Documentary and Feature Film Studio, sent us a statement about the high-profile case. We received confirmation in the letter that Leszek Wosiewicz was removed from the project after “a review of some of the footage, taking into account the opinions of experts from the film industry and people involved in the production of the film”.

The producer of “Raport Pilecki” emphasizes, however, that the change in the director’s position was undertaken jointly by the Documentary and Feature Film Studio and Leszek Wosiewicz. “The above decision was made jointly with Mr. Wosiewicz – with his consent. The assessment of the above actions should be left to the viewers who will soon be able to see the film in cinemas” – we read in the statement.

The premiere of “The Pilecki Report” is scheduled for September 1, 2023. Przemysław Wyszyński played the main role in the film. On the screen, viewers will also have the opportunity to see Paulina Chapko as Maria Pilecka, Mariusz Jakus as Eugeniusz Chimczak, Karol Wróblewski as Józef Różański and Paweł Paprocki as Józef Cyrankiewicz.
