The exhibition will be open until December 15, from Monday to Sunday, from 11:00 to 21:00. Free entrance.
The result of the work of approximately four years is now reflected in The light from heaven, the exhibition that the artist keeps open Mikaela Báez Jalil, in the Plaza de la Fuente cultural space of the Plaza Lagos shopping center, located at km 6.5 via Samborondón.
An artistic journey to spiritual projection summarizes the concept of the show, the first solo. “My art as such is trying to see spirituality … My path with meditation, with my interiority, so spiritual artists such as Van Gogh, Piet Mondrian, Kandinsky have always been my inspiration and on that I based my final work. career (Spiritual art) at the university, because I did not study art, I studied letters, so I came like investigating it a bit and already putting it into practice when I returned to Ecuador starting to paint ”, explains Báez Jalil, 26 years old.
“More than anything it is an attempt to bring to painting, to plastic art those experiences that I have been having, such as these visions of the sense of seeing beyond. ‘Seeing within’ which is a phrase that I put in the exhibition so that people enter and have a mirror and it says: ‘look inside, look in meditation, look in silence,’ “he adds.
The artist comments that in the second part of the exhibition the public will be able to find something more minimalist, pastel colors, in which the symbol of the cross is super important. “So as an encounter that I had very strong and very beautiful in this case with Jesus Christ, with the cross, with the symbol of love (…) I try that people (…) live this experience through my paintings” , it states.
The techniques he used were acrylic on canvas, acrylic markers, and aerosol. “They are mixed aerosol techniques with acrylic on canvas, on paper,” he says.
Around 40 works are part of the exhibition, to these are added those of two collaborating artists, the interior designer Melissa Maidana and the designer and maker of handmade rugs Íngrid Puruncajas.
Báez Jalil does not rule out taking his exhibition to other cities in Ecuador and abroad. In addition, as a project for 2022, it foresees in the international sphere to investigate an internship of international artists. “These internships where they invite you to paint, so that kind of research I would love to do and also do collaboration with other artists in large exhibitions and enter as a curator to do as art movements and groups of artists and make new exhibitions”, she comments.

The exhibition will be open until December 15, from Monday to Sunday, from 11:00 to 21:00. Free entry.
