“Fuck Mickiewicz, or the best years” is a film that is supposed to show the true face of the Polish school. The main characters of the production are students of class 2B, which is referred to as the “class of outcasts”. The teachers are unable to tame the rebellious youth, but everything changes when a new Polish language teacher, Jan Sienkiewicz (Dawid Ogrodnik), appears in the school. He is also a former writer whose parenting methods are far from traditional. Thanks to him, the attitude of young people can change dramatically.
Dawid Ogrodnik about his character: I am a free neutron against other teachers
“I have unconventional methods because I break classic methods, such as bench structures. I try much more to seek contact with young people, for example by speaking their language or showing their characters, treating everyone individually. According to my protagonist, traditional educational methods have devalued and you have to look for new forms” – said Dawid Ogrodnik about his character.
In the conversation, the actor pointed out that in a world dominated by social media, young people absorb knowledge completely differently. He added that it was very interesting for him and that was one of the reasons why he decided to take part in this film. He also mentioned that he got involved in this project because he hopes that after the screening, young people will gain more self-confidence.
Dawid Ogrodnik also revealed that although the main theme of the production is the dispute between young people and adults, there will also be a romance in which his hero will be involved. “My ex-partner from a few years ago is a curator at the school where I start teaching. Daily meetings make this relationship come back years later,” the actor revealed. In the interview, we also talked about Ogrodnik’s work with young people, for whom the film “Pieprzyć Mickiewicza” will be their debut on the big screen.
I think that many of them have a chance to be interesting people in the world of Polish cinema. I am really positively surprised by them. What cool actors they already are, and what cool actors they can still be in the future, when they want to continue their education – said Dawid Ogrodnik.

“It’s a film about young people and for young people, largely created by them. It’s a film story about friendship, love, rebellion, that is about youth, which also has to make its way up. The great advantage of this film, apart from experienced actors, is the young cast, fresh , unknown faces. Thanks to them and their personalities, we try to create an authentic world of high school students, “said the film’s director Sara Bustamante-Drozdek in an interview with the portal.
