Critics say it’s “the dumbest movie of the year”. In 4 days from the premiere, it earned 145 million dollars

When the movie “Meg” hit the cinemas in 2018, critics were convinced that the viewers saw the most absurd and illogical film in the history of spectacular cinema. The sequel is now in theaters. “Meg 2: The Depths” has already been named “the dumbest movie of the year”.

It started in theory with the movie “Jaws”, from which sharks became a part of entertainment cinema. Beasts attacking beach holidaymakers is a perfect holiday story. The “Sharknado” series, known in Poland as the homely “Sharknado”, proved that an absurd idea can turn out to be a great box office success. An equally bizarre idea was reached in 2018 by the creators of the film “Meg”, in which, as commander Jonas Taylor, he saves the crew of a submarine attacked by a prehistoric shark, the megalodon. Even then, the reviewers were wondering how such a spectacular, yet illogical and senseless production could have been released in cinemas. The success, however, meant that in 2023 the second part hit the cinemas.
