The singer Ana Torroja claims the marquisate that Franco granted to her grandfather

Ana Torroja has asked the Government the marquisate that Franco awarded to his grandfather posthumously.

This is collected in the Official State Gazette (BOE), where it is collected that the singer has performed this request after the death of his father, José Antonio Torroja Cavanillas, last July.

The BOE has made this request public, establishing a period of 30 days to resolve it because, as a law, it is possible that someone else claims the title if they think they have the rights corresponding.

The dictator granted this posthumous title to Eduardo Torroja Miret in recognition of his career as an engineer. Now, after the death of his son, the former Mecano singer claims him.

This will be one of the few titles that will not disappear with the Democratic Memory law because it does not contemplate those that are linked to “intellectuals, scientists and academics” that are not related to the dictatorship.
