Spotify: Bad Bunny is crowned as the king of the platform for the second consecutive year

The second place in Spotify’s 2021 ranking was held by American pop singer Taylor Swift.

The audio streaming platform Spotify published on Wednesday the list of the most listened to artists in 2021 worldwide, and a Latino was crowned as the leader for the second consecutive year.

The Puerto Rican ragman Bad Bunny -performer of songs like “Dákiti”, “Callaíta”, “Yonaguni” and “La noche de noche” – obtained the first position of the most listened to artists, something that it had already achieved in 2020. Spotify highlighted that it registered more than 9.1 billion views without releasing a new album this year.

The third step on the podium went to the k-pop band BTS thanks to the hit “Butter”, according to Spotify.

Fourth and fifth on the list were placed Canadians Drake and Justin Bieber, respectively.

Drake released the album “Certified Lover Boy”, while Bieber released “Justice” this year.

Spotify also disclosed which were the most played songs on its platform during the year.

Disney star Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” took first place with 1.1 billion views.

It was followed by “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”, by Lil Nas X, “Stay”, de The Kid Laroi y Justin Bieber, “Good 4 u”, again by Rodrigo, and “Levitating”, by Dua Lipa in collaboration with DaBaby.

The most listened to albums of the year, meanwhile, were Rodrigo’s “Sour”, Dua Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia”, Bieber’s “Justice”, Ed Sheeran’s “=”, and Doja’s “Planet Her” Cat.
