National Ballet presents the play ‘Nutcracker’, as the start of the Christmas celebration

The event will be free at the National Theater of the House of Ecuadorian Culture Benjamín Carrión.

The National Ballet of Ecuador opens the Christmas celebration this December 7 and 8, 2021 with the presentation of the work Nutcracker, in the national theater of the House of Ecuadorian Culture Benjamín Carrión.

The event is free and will start at 19:30. The teacher Rubén Guarderas, director of the National Ballet of Ecuador, says that the work is based on the story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, written by the German Ernst Hoffman.

The work Nutcracker is a story that begins in the home of a respectable judge, his wife, and their two children, Clara and Fritz, who have a Christmas party to which Clara’s godfather, the magician Drosselmeyer, a manufacturer of clocks and fantastic mechanical toys, is invited. , who brings Clara a beautiful doll in the shape of a nutcracker as a gift.

Drosselmeyer magically disappears Clara’s house and grows the Christmas tree and the nutcracker doll to gigantic size. At the end of the day, the magical world created by the magician disappears and Clara returns home. A work not to be missed.

The teacher Rubén Guarderas describes that in the work, which will be presented next Tuesday and Wednesday, 40 professional dancers who belong to the Chamber Ballet, the Urban Ballet and the National Ballet will participate. Also 18 children from the dance conservatory will participate in this Christmas party.

This event is totally free, you only have to withdraw the invitation at the Metro Danza school of the Casa de la Cultura and at the facilities of the National Ballet of Ecuador. The passes will begin to be delivered this Thursday, December 2.

Everything is ready, Guarderas adds, and all the rehearsals have been carried out in the spaces in which it corresponds, as it is a work that takes great detail in terms of staging, which includes a snow paradise, a flower paradise and then a party where the main characters dream of sweets that are later transformed into dancers from different countries.

In each of the presentations there will be a capacity of 500 people in the national theater, and they must have their vaccination card, have masks and bring alcohol, as biosecurity measures. The play lasts one hour and there will be a fifteen-minute intermission.

During the 21 months of the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Ballet of Ecuador has carried out more than 320 virtual programs through the institution’s social networks, indicates the teacher Guarderas, where more than 500,000 views have been registered.
