Where to dispose of Styrofoam? This question is asked by many of us. This material is often used to insulate the façade, but also to transport takeaway food or as protection for shipments. We suggest how to dispose of Styrofoam and where to throw it away.
Where to dispose of Styrofoam? The answer is not obvious
Styrofoam is a plastic material that is formed by steam heating polystyrene granules. It is widely used, but many of us do not know how to segregate it and which waste container to throw it into. The answer is not so simple, because it depends on what polystyrene we are dealing with. Styrofoam packaging is divided into two types: clean and dirty. Pure polystyrene is the element securing shipments, e.g. electronics. We throw it into the yellow container intended for plastics. If we have food packaging, it is treated as dirty waste and we throw it into mixed waste.

What to do with construction polystyrene? We cannot throw it away as mixed waste
Building polystyrene is a completely different type of material and should not be placed in public waste containers. So what should be done? It is worth asking at your local Municipal Waste Collection Point, but such a facility is not obliged to accept it. Then you should contact the appropriate company that deals with professional removal of construction waste and purchases this type of materials.
