The US ambassador to Spain has spoken. Through a video posted on the Official account of the US Embassy in Spain he addressed the artist like this: “Please, Boss” and used his best weapons of persuasion: “I’m going to make you an offer you can’t refuse.” Jokingly, he asks bruce springsteen if you have something to do in October and add: “From a little boss to the big boss (boss), please, come to Peralejos, here in Spain“.

She is the last to join that campaign started by the 156 neighbors of this small town in Guadalajara. They claim to feel devotion to the ‘Boss’ in front of our microphone. T-shirts have even been printed indicating that they see a short break in the dates of their tour in October, so they invite them to the small town. “Please, eat”, they pronounce in worked English.

The mayor, Timoteo Madrid, tells us that Springsteen’s love affair with rock began four decades ago in the town bar. The waiter bought the artist’s records, played them and that’s how the magic was created: the entire municipal register turned into a fan unconditional. In 2012 they displayed a banner with the name of Peralejos de las Truchas at the concert that the ‘Boss’ gave in Madrid.

In 2014 he was named an honorary son and seven years later they managed to give him the distinctive plaque in person at a hotel in Madrid, despite the record company’s initial refusal. Such are the ties to Springsteen that they have become twinned with the singer’s hometown.

Now in its streets there is no talk of anything else. “Well, we’ll feed him lamb, and he’ll surely repeat it,” jokes a neighbor. “And we throw him into the pylon,” adds another of its inhabitants. It remains to be seen if the ‘Boss’ gets wet.
