At one time, Rudi Schuberth was one of the most popular faces on Polish television. He made his debut as a member of the band Okolicznościowo-Rozrywkowy Syndykat Wały Jagiellońskie, and then performed with Kabaret TEY. The greatest popularity brought him the cult TVP program, which he was for 4 years. Later, he sat on the jury of Polsat’s “How they sing” for a while, and then retired from show business.
Rudi Schubert has not appeared on television for a decade. Any chance it will come back to the screens?
After the performance at the 50th National Festival of Polish Song in Opole, the presenter decided to end his television career and holed up in Kashubia, where he and his wife built a house and set up an agritourism farm. Although many hoped that he would return to the screens, a few years ago in an interview he deprived viewers of this hope, convincing that this stage is definitely closed for him. “A man should not step into the same river twice. I’ve already worked hard on TV, today I’m a free man – Despite this, he still meets fans during numerous live performances. – I still tour with great musicians, perform my songs from other arrangements and during these performances I am happy to meet the audience – he said in the same conversation. It turns out that the reason why Schuberth is still professionally active is finance.
The presenter revealed how much his pension is. He doesn’t hide his frustration
In an interview with Rudi Schuberth, he commented on the situation of artists in Poland. He admitted that most of them receive low wages that do not allow them to live in dignity and to ensure basic needs. He was also confident that he was one of them. It turns out that he receives about PLN 1,200 from ZUS every month. – From time to time I will have to continue performing and appearing in public, because my retirement is just an embarrassment. Artists do not have any pensions – he said with regret, adding that although it is not much, he does not intend to give it up, because nowadays every penny counts. – After all, it is enough to go to ZUS and take this pension. The state pays me money for being a citizen – summed up the author of “Monika, the rescuer’s girl”.
