Choral group Notes de Luz, made up of blind young people, invites the public to see further with their album

“The concept of ‘I can see beyond’ is to make people understand that you can see … with all the senses if we lack sight,” says one artist.

The saying ‘The sky is the limit’ fits them perfectly, because not having their eyesight has not prevented them from doing what they like, singing. Music is the refuge, the relief and, at the same time, with which they can also express art. This is how Josué Mieles, 21, and Ana Paula Ramírez, 27, who are part of the choral group describe it Light Notes, which welcomes blind young people.

“For me music is peace, it is being in a moment of relaxation, tranquility and when you show it to people, that people appreciate your talent is wonderful, the applause and everything that comes afterwards,” says Ramírez.

Mieles, who would like to meet Andreína Bravo and is fond of voice overs, indicates that art and feelings are expressed with music.

And as part of its development together with the choir they present the theme I can see beyond, which also has a video clip and is part of the album of the same name. “The concept of this song is to make people understand that you can see with your hands … with all your senses if you lack sight,” says Ramírez.

“This song talks about how they can see through colors, smells,” adds Ian Moncayo, director of the choir.

Mieles joined the group in 2012 and Ramírez since 2014.

Being a member of the choir, Ramírez describes it as a wonderful experience. “Being able to experience new things … I had the opportunity to be in Mexico and it was a gratifying experience for me because I did not imagine that shortly after entering I was going to be given the news that I was going to travel. A month after I joined the choir they already gave me the news that I was going to Mexico, so it was something unique, ten wonderful days, ”she says excitedly.

For his part, Mieles says that he is very happy. It is also very nice to share presentations.

According to Moncayo, the choir currently consists of 17 people. They began in 2008 with 11, as a child, with children from six to 12. At 13 years of existence they are presenting their first album called I can see beyond, which is composed of six themes, in four of them they make feat Maykel, Daniel Beta, Gianpiero and Jorge Luis del Hierro. “We plan to do a featuring, half and half, but the artists said: ‘no, we are not artists, the artists are them (the members of the choir)’. So they have collaborated with us on certain songs, not taking the lead from the members of the choir, “he explains.

The album is already available on digital platforms and this Friday, December 3, at 8:00 p.m., the concert that they previously performed on the Simón Bolívar Malecón will be launched on YouTube and in which the attendees lived the experience with the blindfolded.

The choir director considers his audience an example of strength. “I’m not saying it just because of the cliché, I really mean it, the day we were recording the video clip we started at 07:00 and ended around 01:00, I couldn’t take it anymore and they were happy with life, and It has really always been like that, they always go a little further, because the balance of things is not fair when you have to get a job, they know that they have to work twice as hard and they do it with great joy … ”, he assures.

He adds that the youth of the choir enjoy total independence, including the movement from one place to another. “And that’s another example to follow,” he says.

Jorge Luis Bohórquez from Borkis Entertainment together with Gianpiero Zunino were in charge of the composition of the album’s songs. “Those who have won, those who have received, I feel like it was us. Me here in the production, the Borkis team … we really feel honored, in all sincerity to have had this unique experience for us. It has not been a challenge, we have not had limitations. Not having the sense of sight to them does not limit them in anything, I think they have this amazing attitude … they have filled our house with hope, ”says Bohórquez.

“What we want people to know is that this is worth it, what they are doing, what they mean, the testimony that they are is worth it, everyone has to know them,” he adds.

As a project for the choir that belongs to the Municipality’s Social Inclusion Directorate, Moncayo indicates that in 2022 it will be internationalization. (I)
