Two Basque directors, in the Official Section of Zinemaldia
San Sebastián filmmakers Jaione Camborda and Isabel Herguera will present their new films in the Official Section of the San Sebastián Film Festival, as announced today by the contest in its official presentation of state films that can be seen in the 71st edition of Zinemaldia, between on September 22 and 30.
Isabella Herguera will compete for the Golden Shell and the rest of the main awards with the animated film “The Sultana’s Dream”, in which EITB participates. She coincidentally walks into a bookstore where she discovers Sultana’s Dream, a novel written in 1905 by Rokeya Hossain in which she recounts an imaginary country ruled by women. Fascinated by the author’s story and transgressive attitude, Inés decides to make a film, and her story and that of Rokeya Hossain will run parallel from then on.
For his part, Jaione Camborda will arrive at the Official Section of Zinemaldia with “oh how”filmed in Galician in Galicia, the second feature film by the director from San Sebastián after her debut “Arima”.
“O corno” (the horn) is set in rural Galicia in the early 1970s. A midwife will have to flee to Portugal using an old smuggling route.
