surprised the Poles. According to the collected data, popular electronics and household appliances, such as a washing machine or a refrigerator, do not consume the most energy at home. The first place on this infamous podium was taken by another device. Which power thief consumes the most?

Which device uses the most electricity? The results may surprise you

Many people believe that a constantly running refrigerator or frequently used washing machine has the biggest impact on energy bills. However, the truth is a bit different. The data collected by PGNiG prove that the most electricity is consumed by… an induction hob. The difference is quite staggering. The refrigerator mentioned earlier takes 3rd place in this category, consuming approximately 270 kWh per year (which gives an approximate annual consumption of PLN 186). Induction, on the other hand, consumes approximately 748 kWh (PLN 516.29) per year. However, it should be noted that all results have been averaged. The calculation was made on the assumption that we use the hob for 30 minutes every day.

Since we already know the first and third places in the ranking, which consume the most energy in Polish homes, it is also worth getting to know the second largest “thief” of electricity. It is an electric oven. The equipment consumes about 496 kWh during the year, for which we will pay just over PLN 343. Interestingly, the washing machine, which we use up to several times a week, consumes slightly more energy than the TV. We pay approximately PLN 98 and PLN 87 for both devices per year.

How to save on using an induction hob? There is a simple way to do this

Should we completely abandon the induction hob? Not completely. There are several ways to significantly reduce the energy consumption of the equipment. First of all, avoid using the settings with the highest temperatures. They are the ones that contribute the most to such a high power consumption.

Moreover, it is also worth paying attention to the energy class of the equipment. Devices are rated on a scale of G (worst) to A (best). What’s more, in the case of some instruments, we can also meet the “+” symbol. The marking informs us that the equipment consumes as little energy as possible.
