Over the years, Erika found out about her origin and in 2018 she filed a lawsuit for the football player to acknowledge her paternity, and in addition, she requested a pension of around 1,400 euros per month.

During 2020 Samuel Eto’o he was declared in absentia for not responding to the proper summons for the case, and two years later the Court of First Instance Civil Number 83 of the Plaza de los Cubos in Madrid agreed with Erika Do Rosario Nieves in a lawsuit for parentage.

According to the Spanish press, in 2022 the court declared the girl legally Eto’o’s daughter and he should then recognize her as such, which is why negotiations began for the athlete to write off the outstanding alimony debt during his life.

Finally, Samuel Eto’o’s lawyers and Erika Do Rosario Nieves’ lawyers recently reached an agreement and the father must cancel 90 thousand euros for accumulated pensions.

Fernando Osuna, Erika’s legal representative, told the EFE news agency that a satisfactory agreement had been reached for both sides, as the former footballer would not go to prison to serve the 12-month sentence, as requested.

“It was an exemplary end to a legal dispute that lasted more than six years,” the lawyer said in statements collected by Vanitatis of El Confidencial.
